You are invited to ride the Willowa Mountains from the snowbound Cornucopia Lodge near Halfway Oregon with The Lodgepole Dodgers.  A groomed trail system will lead us, from the base elevation of almost 5000', up to 8000' Sugarloaf Mountain on the border of the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Jump off the trail at any point for some world class boondocking.  Spend 4 nights and 5 days with your hosts, Jeff and Sara, serving up three square meals, stoking the fireplace and filling your machines up with premium fuel daily.  The planned trip is for 4 nights and 5 days but you can customize your stay to fit your schedule.  When you book your room, be sure to sign up for the meal package as well.  Fuel charges will be accrued and paid for when you check out.  There are an assortment of one and two bedroom cabins available but when they are booked the trip is full.  The lodge's cancellation policy is very generous which will help with the sting if we have to cancel due to lack of snow or too much rain.  Several of our members have ridden the trail system here before and, for at least the first day, a rider with some experience on this trail system will lead a group ride to acquaint those that have not been here before.
A typical day will involve coffee being ready in the main lodge at 7:00 AM, breakfast being served around 8:00, gearing up and ready for the trail by around 9:30, dinner served around 6:00 PM, telling stories around the fireplace until whenever you want to head back to your cabin and go to bed.  All meals are "first class", all you can eat and served family style.  You can expect every type of riding imaginable if the snow and weather conditions cooperate, including steep and deep and fast and smooth.  The groomed trail system includes loops that go all the way over to Salt Creek snow park near Joseph, all the way up to a Hell's Canyon overlook of the Snake River and all the way up to a warming shelter at 7000' on the edge of the Eagle Cap Wilderness.  The most likely itinerary is:  Load up Friday night for an early start on Saturday;  6 hour drive to Halfway with an hour for lunch has you getting to the parking lot around 3:00 PM;  load up all your gear for about a 6 mile ride to the lodge, get checked in, learn the ropes and be ready for dinner around 6:00;  Ride, eat and sleep on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday;  Wednesday morning check-out, pack up your gear, ride to the rig and drive home.  If you have a lot of gear, a tow sled will come in very handy for the 6 mile ride from the parking lot to the lodge.
